“Back in this lovesick mess I dive, back in this reckless joy I thrive

I hereby concede what I need to survive is to look at you and say

I Love You, I Love You, You’re Perfect, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”

Circle’s phone is ringing off the hook with patrons calling to make reservations largely due to the excellent reception of the show from the local press.  In fact, box office manager Tim Long can’t guarantee seats if reservations aren’t made at least two weeks in advance.  Perry Stewart of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says, “Let the bouquets continue for this beguiling revue and the production that actor and director Todd Hart and musical director Jeff Lankov have mounted on Circle’s downtown Fort Worth stage.”  The Dallas Morning News’ Lawson Taitte says, “You’ll never find a show better sung or acted…you probably can’t do better by I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change than these six performers have done.”  Fort Worth Weekly’s Matt Smith says, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change…rises above empty froth and balances humor and romance in a way that ought to appeal both to men and women.”

On May 20, 2001 at New York’s Westside Theatre, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change celebrated its 2000th performance, making it the longest running Off Broadway show of all time.  Circle Theatre is hoping to enjoy a similar success.  With the show having been in 50 cities in 10 countries around the world and grossing over $40,000,000, it’s obviously a practically “perfect” show.  Apparently many grooms to be think so, as since its’ opening in New York there have been 10 onstage surprise proposals which were accepted and enthusiastically applauded by the rest of the audience; another tradition Circle would enjoy sharing.

Who’s Who In I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change

In preparation for its extended run, Circle Theatre is proud to announce the additions of Michael S. Ellis and Melinda Wood-Allen as understudy cast members.  Mr. Ellis has already stepped in for a few performances, and audiences can expect to see Ms. Wood-Allen in the near future.

Michael S. Ellis (Understudy-Man 1) – Since moving to the D/FW area just over four years ago, Michael has appeared in several area theaters including Deep Ellum Opera Theater in Dallas, Lyric Stage in Irving, and Stage West and Casa Manana here in Fort Worth.  He collaborated with Jeff Lankov and Neil Mowles as part of the cast of Casa Manana’s critically acclaimed Violet.  Michael has performed in several productions including Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill at Stage West  here in Fort Worth and a Kansas-based touring production of Forever Plaid.

Melinda Wood-Allen (Understudy/Swing-Woman 1 & 2) – Melinda Wood-Allen is a versatile singer/actress who spent several years with Morale Support Theatres Europe, performing extensively in Germany, France and Spain-then in regional theatre in the Pacific Northwest.  Melinda has been seen at Fort Worth Opera, Jubilee Theatre; Hip Pocket Theatre; and Shakespeare in the Park.  Recently, Melinda appeared in Allied Theatre Group’s production of Cowgirls.  At Circle Theatre she appeared in Sordid Lives and Six Women With Brain Death.

Todd Hart, Neil Mowles, Jenny Thurman, and Lois Sonnier (all members of the Actors’ Equity Association) portray over 20 roles in a collection of scenes and songs scaling the spectrum of male/female relationships.  The difficulties and joys of connecting with another person, no matter what age, are revealed in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.  This production is guest directed by Todd Hart with musical direction by Jeff Lankov.  Performances will feature piano accompaniment by Jeff Lankov or Ricky Pope, who will be joined by violinist Chris Smith.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is rated R due to some adult subject matter and language.
