About the Play:
Set in an aging pavilion in Pine City Minnesota, this play is often referred to as the "Our Town for modern times". A narrator introduces the audience to various characters and events that illustrate how, within the enormity of the universe, our very human concerns and relationships are not lost or insignificant.

The Pavilion was nominated for both the Pulitzer Prize and the American Theatre Critics Association Best New Play of 2000.

City Theatre Company originally produced The Pavilion in 2000 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The play was partially developed at the Carnegie School of Drama.

About the Playwright:
Craig Wright (Playwright) has received several awards for his writing, including fellowships from the McKnight Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Some of his other plays include Orange Flower Water, John Dory, Molly's Delicious, and Recent Tragic Events, which opened this fall at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington. Later this year, his adaptation of Sinclair Lewis' Main Street will premier at the Great American History Theatre in Minnesota. In addition to being a playwright, Mr. Wright has worked as a minister, fishmonger, advertising copywriter, hotel developer and is currently a member of the alt-rock band Kangaroo. Craig has just signed on as a writer for the HBO series, Six Feet Under. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son.
