ANNOUNCING HSPP 2021
Every year, Circle Theatre hosts an annual High School Playwriting Project to benefit local student playwrights. We are inviting all DFW Metroplex high school teachers to enter 10-minute scripts, written by their students, for evaluation by an experienced panel of judges.
Here's how it works:
Location Announcement!
Sunday, June 6, 2021 || 5:00 PM
We invite you to join us for this socially distant reading of our four finalists' plays!
What: The reading of our four High School Playwriting Project finalists' plays performed by professional actors
When: Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 5:00 PM
Where: The lawn of Texas Wesleyan University
The reading will be accompanied by an awards ceremony and the event should last about one hour. You are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on and invited to bring a small picnic. We ask that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the reading to get set up and settled. We hope to have everyone seated and food wrapped up before the reading!
You'll be able to make a free reservation to join us soon!
**Please note: All attendees will need to comply with the University's COVID-19 protocols including masks. Please visit the TWU COVID-19 information page: https://txwes.edu/coronavirus/ as it is updated between now and the event.**
Circle Theatre is continuing to follow COVID-19 city and state protocols and may not be able to host the event or reception in-person. In this case, Circle Theatre will record and produce a digital reading of the four finalists scripts. These readings will be presented online in September 2021.

"I love that I had this opportunity to express myself in such a unique way. I was able to write an opinion piece on a topic I am very passionate about, but write it in a way that I am familiar with... I highly recommend that everybody try this experience if they are able to!"

"I absolutely loved my HSPP experience! I had never written a play before, so I was truly starting from square one. I must have started with 10 different ideas/concepts and at a certain point, I just began writing! My first draft was revised and revised and revised until I finally felt like I had something that worked. Getting to do HSPP ignited creative energy in me that I really love, and I cannot wait to continue with and improve on. I never would have imagined that I would find so much joy, excitement, and discovery in playwriting. I certainly would never have imagined that I would be chosen as a finalist! Thank you so much to Circle Theatre for this wonderful and unique opportunity!"
