A Night with Janis Joplin is a vibrant, electrifying tribute to the legendary rock and blues singer, celebrating her life, her influences, and the raw power of her music. Through a concert-style journey, Janis shares the stage with the voices of trailblazing women who shaped her sound—from Aretha Franklin to Bessie Smith. It's a soul-stirring night of music, memories, and the unapologetic spirit of a true original.

Great, authentic rock & roll/blues voice with incredible range and chords of steel. Range: G3 - A5

BESSIE SMITH (JOPLINAIRE 1) | Female (Black)
Strong Blues, Rock, and Legit vocal skills required. Plays Odetta, Bessie Smith, a Chantel. Range: G3 - E5

ETTA JAMES (JOPLINAIRE 2) | Female (Black)
Strong Blues, Rock, and Legit vocal skills required. Plays Etta James, a Chantel. Range: G3 - E5

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

1. Please select the "Equity Auditions" or "Open Auditions" below depending on your union status

2. Once there, select your preferred audition time slot via Google Calendar.
 

3. Please follow the submit materials button to submit your headshot and resume

    - Video submission portal can be found at the bottom of the Airtable form by clicking on 
      SUBMIT MATERIALS button

4. AUDITION MATERIALS

  • Prepare two song choices, 36 bars or 30 seconds each

    • One song in the style of the character (Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, etc.)

    • One song that shows off your talent and voice best

  • We suggest being familiar with the script beforehand. A perusal script is available at the theatre Tuesdays-Fridays 11am-3pm.

PARKING: 
 

  • The City Center Garage 2 is now Circle Theatre’s preferred parking garage. 

    • Address: 401 Calhoun Street, Fort Worth TX 76102

      • This garage is free after 6:00pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. 

      • The main entrance is on the left hand side coming down Calhoun Street.​

  • Metered Street Parking is free all day on weekends and after 6:00pm on weekdays.
    ​

IMPORTANT PARKING CHANGES:

  • THE TOWER GARAGE IS NO LONGER OFFERING FREE PARKING AT ANY TIME.

  • SUNDANCE SQUARE GARAGE #3 NO LONGER offers free night or weekend parking. ​​

    • Address: 345 W 3rd Street, Fort Worth TX 76102

    • In order to do so, you must request a validation ticket from us upon your visit to the theater.

    • Circle Theatre can only validate up to 2.5 hours of parking in Garage #3.
