Dear Artists,

CONGRATULATIONS on submitting your plays to the 2023 High School Playwriting Project and placing in the top 20 scripts. We had almost 100 submissions—you should be incredibly proud of the work you did! Due to an unbelievably gracious grant from the Fort Worth Kiwanis Club — we are thrilled to present our top 20 scripts with a $100 stipend! Additionally, Circle Theatre is gifting every student who turned in a script one complimentary ticket to any show in our 2023 season!


We are thrilled to announce the top 20 scripts (In alphabetical order) which moved on to the final evaluation. These scripts are evaluated anonymously.

1. If your script placed as a semifinalist (yellow) or finalist (blue), you will receive your full scholarship only. You will receive free theatre tickets and a trophy as well!

2. If you have co-writers on a play please make sure all emails and names are sent to us! If your co-writer does not get THIS email, we do not have their information.

3. Please check the spelling of your plays and name above and email us with an errors.

4. Scripts will multiple writers will split their winnings.

5. To attend the FREE Finalist Reading Series, please make reservations below

Our four finalist scripts will be performed by professional actors on May 21, 2023 at Texas Wesleyan University! We will have an awards ceremony for semifinalist and finalist writers followed by a mix-and-mingle party. We'll even have a taco truck on site!

We hope that you will attend as we are celebrating ALL of our writers!

Should a finalist writer not be able to be in attendance, a semifinalist or top 20 script will be performed in its place!


We invite you and your families to join us for a celebration honoring the top eight scripts and the live reading of the four finalists' plays at TxWES on May 21, 2023. This is a FREE event and open to the public — Details and info on ticket reservations to come. Congratulations, Circle Theatre

P.S. If you co-wrote a play and it was not submitted with YOUR email, please send us your name, email, play, and school so we can add you to our emails!


As a congratulatory gift, we are giving each writer one ticket to any production in our 2023 season! How it works: when tickets to the general public open for the show you'd like to attend, simply call the box office (817.877.3040) or email and let them know you are a 2023 HSPP Writer and would like to redeem your free ticket. Tickets will be assigned using the name turned in on your 2023 HSPP script. You can purchase additional tickets at that time as well. *Please note, some of our play contain adult situations and themes 15+*
