King James by Rajiv Joseph is a sharp, heartfelt play about the unlikely bond between two men brought together—and pulled apart—by their shared love of basketball and the rise of LeBron James. Written by Pulitzer Prize Finalist playwright Rajiv Joseph, this piece is set over the course of nearly two decades, the play traces the evolution of their friendship alongside the highs and lows of a sports dynasty. It's a funny, moving exploration of loyalty, identity, and the connections we build through fandom.

SHAWN | MALE

  • Black, late 20s to mid 30s

  • Sharp, passionate, a writer, emotionally intelligent but guarded

  • Carries quiet power 

  • His relationship to LeBron mirrors his relationship to hope

MATT | MALE

  • White, late 20s to mid 30s.

  • Socially awkward but sincere. Hustling his way through life

  • Someone who can balance comedy and vulnerability

  • He loves basketball, but connection is what he’s really after

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

1. Please select the "Equity Auditions" or "Open Auditions" below depending on your union status

2. Once there, select your preferred audition time slot via Google Calendar.
 

3. Please follow the submit materials button to submit your headshot and resume

    - Video submission portal can be found at the bottom of the Airtable form by clicking on 
      SUBMIT MATERIALS button

• Sides are available below.

• We suggest being familiar with the script beforehand. A perusal script is available at the theatre Tuesdays-Fridays 11am-3pm.

PARKING: 
 

  • The City Center Garage 2 is now Circle Theatre’s preferred parking garage. 

    • Address: 401 Calhoun Street, Fort Worth TX 76102

      • This garage is free after 6:00pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. 

      • The main entrance is on the left hand side coming down Calhoun Street.​

  • Metered Street Parking is free all day on weekends and after 6:00pm on weekdays.
    ​

IMPORTANT PARKING CHANGES:

  • THE TOWER GARAGE IS NO LONGER OFFERING FREE PARKING AT ANY TIME.

  • SUNDANCE SQUARE GARAGE #3 NO LONGER offers free night or weekend parking. ​​

    • Address: 345 W 3rd Street, Fort Worth TX 76102

    • In order to do so, you must request a validation ticket from us upon your visit to the theater.

    • Circle Theatre can only validate up to 2.5 hours of parking in Garage #3.
