ABOUT THE PLAY: 

Wash the dishes. Mop the floors. Change the sheets. Change the past. Charlotte is a wife and mother who'll try anything to put her family back together. Selina Fillinger’s new drama captures a mother’s guilt, grief, and the ways she grapples with the unthinkable – especially when it comes to her son.

ABOUT THE PLAY: 

Fate plays its hand in this romantic regional premiere play by Audrey Cefaly that features original songs by Matthew M. Nielson. Lina and Roberto have been working together for years but rarely talk. When a late-night thunderstorm finds them alone in the restaurant at closing time, they find their lives intersecting in surprising and mystical ways. The Last Wide Open imagines how the universe conspires to bring us together.

ABOUT THE PLAY: 

In August Wilson's modern classic, Troy Maxson, a former star baseball player, is excluded as a black man from the major leagues during his prime. Troy's bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his wife, who reevaluates their marriage when Troy comes home with a baby he fathered with another woman, and his son, who now wants his own chance to become a football star. This sensational drama was the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and numerous New York Drama Critics and Tony awards—it is not to be missed.

CHARACTERS:

The following roles have already been cast:

TROY MAXSON – A hard working, proud man who demands more out of life. Troy struggles to provide for his family while working as a sanitation worker. A former baseball player in the Negro Leagues, Troy is resentful over the racism that prevented him from playing in the major leagues. African-American, 45 – 55. 

 

We are still seeking:

JIM BONO – Troy’s best friend, Bono is the follower in their relationship, evidenced by his admission to Troy when confronting him about his affair. African-American. 50’s

ROSE – Troy’s second wife and the mother of Cory. Maternal, practical, patient, and forgiving. Powerful underneath and determined to hold her family together. She asks Troy to build a fence around their house.  African-American, 40 – 45.

LYONS – Troy’s oldest son from a previous relationship. Lyons strives, against the wishes of his father, to be a professional musician. African-American. Mid 30’s

 

GABRIEL – Troy’s brother, Gabriel is the victim of a brain-injury he received at war. As a result of the injury, Gabe has gone insane, living trapped in the psychotic belief that he is St. Gabriel. African-American. Mid 40’s

CORY – The son of Troy and Rose, Cory embodies a hope for the future unmet by the pessimism of his father. African-American. Early 20’s

 

 

Audition date for the following role is TBD:


RAYNELL – Troy's daughter, fathered out of wedlock with his mistress,
Alberta,  who died during childbirth and leaves Troy and Rose to raise Raynell. 7 - 10.

- Equity and Non-Equity Members encouraged to audition - Equity Contracts Available.

- Circle Theatre is a member of the Equity Membership Candidacy program.

-Housing and transportation are not provided for out of town hires*

 

AUDITION MATERIALS: Auditions will consist of a reading from the show. Please prepare the material for the character you would like to read for. You will only be allowed to read one. The link to audition sides will be included in your confirmation email.
